Never going back here again. Not new to chiropractic treatments and having recently reloated to Western Mass and in need of an adjustment for a muscle spasm turned low back pain, I did some research online and went with Easthampton Chiropractic for the great reviews I read online and on thier website. I was hoping to establish care and explained that I was paying out of pocket because my new insurance didn't start until the end of the month. I was assured over the phone that I would pay $39 for my visit. I thought that was very reasonable! Arrived at my appointment on time. They took me late, bounced me from one room to the next. When I met Dr. Smith the first thing she said was she wanted an xray. I assured her I'm familiar with this back issue, saw my PCP, my PT and needed an adjustment which is why I was here. She started to perform a "neuro exam" that last 30 seconds - should have known at that point they just wanted to bill for anything. Then she was ready to take me into a treatment room, she has about 5 rooms, but all of them were full. How is this 1 doctor treating 6 patients at a time? So she had me lay on a table with heat on my back, while I waited for a room to open. I should have left after 15 additional minutes of waiting but thought I should see it through. They moved me into another room and in another 5 minutes Dr. Smith arrived again to do the adjustment. Adjustment went fine, she uses a drop table. After she adjusted me I asked some questions, she said she wanted to see my before the end of the week. I said I would and exited to the front desk. When the receptionist, who booked my appointment that morning ensuring me over the phone I'd be charged $39, went to check me out she said t was actually going to be $114, because Dr. Smith did some 'range of motion' work on me. I was shocked. I should have walked out but I paid it all and then walked out. I called the next day to get a detailed description of my bill. Welp - I'm suprised they sent it to me because all the bogus billing that this practice was known for in the past is STILL HAPPENING. First of all, the provider they listed as performing my treatments was not Dr. Smith, it was a Herne Andosca. Dr. Smith was the ONLY person to treat and consult with me. I'm not sure who this other indivdual is. Secondly, they billed me for an Establish Patient appointment - guess they couldn't bill me for an Inital Visit because they didn't meet the reqirements to bill me as an inital visit as they only spent 5 minutes on this "Consultation Appointment", not including the 20 minutes they had me waiting in the room for Dr. Smith, and then they 15 minutes they had me waiting for another Treatment Room to open up. I will NEVER go back here again. The adjusment didn't help, I had slightly more discomfort in my back. Guess they were banking on that 2nd appointment. So I'm out $114 and it was overall a expensive and unnecessary learning experience. For referrals such as this, ask someone you know and trust, not a review online. Also, follow your gut. I knew I should have left after spending 5 minutes with Dr. Smith - it was all about billing. I did find an excelllent chiropractor who did my adjustment and I'm feeling great. And upfront, he charged me $55, no matter what, he will always charge me $55. And as for Easthampton Chiropratic, cheap shot!
