I am a patient at Jordan Family Health of Duxbury and I'm sorry to say I probably won't be for much longer. The reason may seem trivial but trust me, if you get involved you will feel my frustration. Before I get into it I should say first that Dr. Kohler and all of the nurses, desk staff, lab staff, and anyone else I've dealt with there are all wonderful people who seem professional and very competant. The problem is getting someone over there to answer the phone or at least to put the call into the voicemail system. You see, during business hours when you call in its likely you will get a busy signal. At times I've had to call back over 10 times before I even get through to the voicemail system. On off hours, they use this TERRIBLE answering service. They are rude and a couple of years ago while I was trying to leave a message with them about a prescription I needed refilled, the person taking the message spoke up and started telling me that the medication I was on was bad and I shouldn't be taking it. I'll say that again. THE ANSWERING SERVICE GUY WAS GIVING OUT PHARMACUTICAL ADVICE!!! I am not kidding. I should have told the practice but I just wasn't in the mood for getting an extremely unintelligent person fired that day. Since then I refuse to talk to the answering service and usually hang up as soon as I hear them answer. So much for leaving messages after hours, I wish they would just let the calls go to voicemail on off hours like they do when they are open. At least the voicemail system won't be rude or judge me. Now let's talk about calling in during office hours. To be fair I will say that when I call and actually get through to pick my option, the staff answers quickly and is very pleasant. The problem is they don't start taking calls until 9:30am and usually for the next half hour or so are totally inundated with calls so it is very difficult to get through. Then they take an hour and a half for lunch (12-1:30) and forward the calls back to the answering service. When they come back from lunch its right back to busy signals until after 2:00. Then they close at 5:00 (one day a week I think they close at 2:00) and it's right back to the answering service again. So basically what this all boils down to is if you are a busy person like me, the only times you can call and actually accomplish anything without having to fight through the busy signals for 10 minutes are from 10:00 am to noon, then from 2:00 to 5:00 which happens to be the busiest times of the day for most working people. Just getting rid of the answering service so I can leave a message in my own words during my lunch break would be an improvement.
